These superb wines have been aged in a private cellar since being purchased by the current owner in October 1994.

We are fortunate to have access to these valuable wines which would make an ideal 21^st Birthday gift in 2012.

The price of each 1991 75cl bottle is £77.95 and includes vat at 17.5%. Delivery will be quoted on an individual basis.

Cockburn’s Vintage Port 1991.

“The first duty of Port is to be red, the second is to be drunk” Ernest Cockburn.

The juice for these classic wines is still extracted by foot in open Lagars. The fermentation is normally longer than in other vintage ports to use more of the residual sugar and make the resultant wine a shade dryer than the product of other Lodges.

Niepoort Vintage Port 1991.

The wines from this famous House are regarded as having great finesse and elegance which is shown to perfection in the 1991 vintage. There are notes of dried plums and nuts in the flavour with a beautiful balancing tannic acidity.

Quinta Do Noval Vintage Port 1991.

This long lived wine has a rich ruby colour which is nearly opaque. There are notes of strawberry and molasses and a fine balance of fruit and acidity.

Smith Woodhouse Vintage Port 1991.

This wine has a firm structure ensuring a long life and lovely flavours of chocolate and ripe red berry. It was reminiscent of the great 1983s when it was first released.

Warre’s Vintage Port 1991.

Established in 1670 Warre’s was one of the pioneers of British Port production. The wine is deep ruby red with a spirited chocolate and cherry flavour enhanced by a touch of almonds. There are considerable tannins suggesting a long life ahead.

W & J Grahams Vintage Port 1985. £81.95

This was the first General unanimous declaration since 1975. The wine is full of fruit with generous rounded tannins and is certainly a very good example of this fine vintage.
